September 12, 2014 - My first day in the Cinque Terre Region, I decided to hike the trail from Monterosso to Vernazza. Arriving in Vernzza and wandering around I watched as storm activity forming above the hills. Seeking a location to capture the storm clouds forming I went to the lowest point I could find on the concrete dock and laying on my back to capture the scene. September 14, 2014 - Vernazza is a photographers dream to shot. I wanted to capture a different perspective of this town and found a location that required an early morning departure. I love how the how this angle captures the coastline and the town of Vernazza frames the town of Monterosso in the background. September 15, 2014 - Arriving at the Miracle of Squares the conditions were overcast and gloomey. I decided to wait it out and see if any photographic opportunities presented themselves. My patience was rewarded as the clouds began burning off givng away to crisp blue skies and enough residual clouds to enhance the background. September 15, 2014 - When I travel, sometimes I just love walking around, exploring, and taking in the sights. You never know what you may see or come across, every so often you happen onto a scene that will make for an outstanding image. Such was the case here, just walking around Pisa after visiting the Square of Miracles. Just watched and waited for the sun to come out an illuminate the scene. September 16, 2014 - Certainly one of the highlights hiking the trails in Cinque Terre is taking the hillside trails and walking through hillside vineyards with amazing views of the coast. Some of these vineyards had not been harvested such as this one. I was just lucky to come upon this scene at the right time of day when the sun was illuminating the plump grapes and leaves. September 16, 2014 - Continued my hiking and exploration of Cinque Terre. This day I took the hillside trail from Corniglia to get to Manarola. I came upon this clearing that had a perfect unobstructed view of Corniglia. The crisp clear blue of the Mediterranean Sea provided a beautiful backdrop to the colorful hilltop town of Corniglia. September 18, 2014 - Met up with a Cousin and Uncle in Rome. One night we were just walking along the Tiber River after dinner and happened upon this iconic scene of Saint Peters Basilica in the background and the Tiber River in the foreground. September 24, 2014 - The warm humid days we had been experiencing finally subsided after storms moved through the island. I set up to capture some images inland and started with the Temple of Segesta. I could not have asked for better conditions, skies were a deep blue with some residual clouds. My objective was to capture unique perspective of this historic temple and used the existing conditions to set and frame my image. September 25, 2014 - My last full day in Sicily, I decided to explore the city of my namesake, "Palermo". Taking a tour of the Palatina Chapel I was fortuante that the crowds were light this day and allowed me to take the time to capture this image of the amazing mosiacs which date from the 1100's AD. September 25, 2014 - My last full day could not have ended any better as I finally got the colorful sunset I'm always looking for. From our resort in Santa Flavia we had a picturesque view of the coastal town of Porticello. As the sun settled beneath the hills and horizon the colors appeared and gave me a fond farewell.
