March 25, 2017 - Days like this are a landscape photographers dream. Vibrant colors, great backgrounds and sky, suberb natural lighting. The biggest challenge was selecting the right location and patiently waiting as the sun came and went behind the ever changing clouds. March 25, 2017 - A late season storm blows through the Antelope Valley creating some amazing backgrounds this day for the "2017 California Superbloom". A growth of deep purple Lupines swaying in the wind against the backdrop of wildflowers and that amazing sky and clouds. Once I recognized the Lupines were not going to stay still in this wind, my goal was to capture the feeling of a breezy spring day. March 25, 2017 - The California State Flower, "The Poppy" is showcasing it's beauty and vibrant color this year after several years of minimal blooms. Spent the morning searching for the right location to capture these California Poppies in all their beauty, and then patiently waited until the weather cooperated as a spring storm blew through the area. April 9, 2017 -The 2017 California Super Bloom trek takes me to Carrizo Plain National Monument. Miles of dense wildflowers (Hillside Daisies - Monolopia Lanceolata) throughout the valleys and into the hills create a carpet of yellow and gold as far as the eye can see. Once again it was identifying that perfect location to capture the flowers in full bloom against a background of the blooming hillsides. May 20, 2016 - Hiking in the Angeles National Forest in the springtime has it's benefits. Many plants are in full bloom, including the Sarcodes Sanguinea (i.e., "Snow Plant"). Beautiful and intricate I searched for one with fuller bloom in the right location and lighting to capture all of its beauty and details. May 20, 2016 - Hiking in the Angeles National Forest in the springtime has it's benefits. Many plants are in full bloom, including Lupines. Late in the afternoon I came upon a group of Lupines in full bloom basking in the sunlight. Framing the scene to maximize the grouping, the resulting image reminded me of abstract paintings, hence the name for this image.
